Welcome! The Performance Studies Focus Group (PSFG) at the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) invites you to SPECTACULAR LABOR, the 2016 PSFG Pre-Conference.
SPECTACULAR LABOR will engage theories, practices, and methodologies at the intersection of performance, labor, and work. Our keynote “Nina Simone and the Work of Minoritarian Performance” is by Joshua Chambers-Letson, Assistant Professor of Performance Studies at Northwestern University. There will also be papers and performances, as well as time for lively conversation over breakfasts, lunch, and an evening reception. The pre-conference will take place Wednesday, August 10 in Evanston, IL and Thursday, August 11 in Chicago, IL.
